Worship

Thank you for finding your way to us! We hope you can find out some of what you need to know about us here and also get a flavour of the warm welcome you will receive when you step into our Church on a Sunday morning.

Our main services begin at 10.30am each every Sunday and following our services, we have tea and coffee (with biscuits of course) on offer afterwards.

We are a small but very friendly group of people and we love to welcome new people to worship with us wherever you are in your journey of faith.

Sunday Services

Sunday Services

Our regular Sunday worship is at 10.30am and we have a loop system for the hard of hearing.

We celebrate Holy Communion once a month and our services generally have 4 or 5 hymns. We love to sing!

As is traditional in Methodism, our services are led by a variety of preachers, lay and ordained, and these come mostly from the 3B's Circuit, though occasionally from further afield.

It is an opportunity to experience a variety of approaches to worship which we all enjoy.

Our service plan is done every three months and our upcoming services can be found here.

Our Vision Statement

Our aim is to bring the Christian Message to our local community and within our church family, to provide spiritual stimulation and inspiration, combined with a friendly and supportive Christian Fellowship, to enable each individual to grow and fulfill their full spiritual potential.

Vision Statement

Our history

John Wesley first came to Towcester in 1760, and visited a number of times, the last being in November 1789, when he preached to a large congregation and said "I believe our Lord was in the midst!"

The first chapel was built in 1811 and was replaced (on the same site) in 1893 by the current one we use for worship.

We are lucky that a booklet was created in 1993 which covers our history since that first visit by John Wesley, please click here to read more.

Baptisms, Weddings and Funerals

You will find a warm welcome at Towcester Methodist for both happy and sad moments in the Christian Life.

Baptisms

These take place in our regular morning service.

Weddings

We are very happy when a couple wishes to get married here, and we will do everything that we can to make your day as special as possible. In getting married in church, or in having a blessing, as well as coming to the traditional place of weddings, you are also saying that you wish God to be involved in your married life together.

Funerals

It is an honour for us to conduct Funerals or Services of Thanksgiving for people who have died.  The service gives a chance for people to celebrate the life of the person, share memories and of course to say goodbye.
